Q: If I can't do the race, can I get a refund?
A:

There are no refunds.  

Q: Is race day entry available?
A: No. Registration will be closed when the marathon reaches 1100 and the half marathon reaches 2000. There is no registration at packet pick up. There is no race day registration. Once each race is full you may not switch into that race.
Q: Is race day packet pick up available?
A: Yes. For race day pick up-packets and chips will be at the race start. (rehoboth Avenue & the bandstand) Packet pick up will start at 5:30am. You must pick up your packet by 6:30.
Q: Is there a time limit for the half marathon
A: The 7 hour time limit for the full marathon would also apply to the half-marathon.
Q: Are there awards?
A: Yes. Overall male and female, overall masters male and female, 5 year age group awards. Each person can only win one award. The overall winner will not also win his/her age group. We will not have an awards ceremony this year. Once results are finalized, you can pick up your award outside of the party. You will not need to enter the party to get your award. We will make a presentation for the overall and masters for both races. This will happen near the finish line, outside of the party. Time TBD.
Q: What kind of shirts will be given?
A: 2017 shirts are short sleeve (Unisex XS-XXL) (Women’s Small-Women’s XXL). Short sleeve this year. We alternate between short and long sleeve shirts. Unisex shirts are black short sleeve. Women’s shirts are short sleeve lavender.

Q: Is there still space in the race?
A:

We have a limit of 1100 for the marathon and 2000 for the half marathon for 2017. As of 9/15/17 there were plenty of spots available.

Q: Can I wear someone a number from a runner who is not able to do the race?
A: No. There is no transfer of numbers. If you do this, you will be disqualified and inelegible for any awards. It is a safety concern. If you wear someone else’s number and have a medical problem, we have the wrong contact information and medical history for you.
Q: Can I switch from the marathon to the half or vice versa?
A:  Yes. You can do it yourself until that race is full. Once the half marathon fills, you can’t switch into it. Log into your account on www.active.com. You can make the switch yourself. There is a fee to switch.
Q: What time should I get to the race?
A:  6:15 at the latest in my opinion. Most people get there before 6:00.

Q: Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
A:  No
Q: Can I defer until next year?
A:  No.
Q: What is included in the after party?
A:  Unlimited food and 3 beer tickets for those over 21. (For all finishers and friends and family who buy wristbands). We will not run out. 
Usually we have pancakes, burgers, veggie burgers, mac & Cheese, fruit, salad, soft drinks, water, gatorade,  beer. There will be a DJ in the tent. The party inside the Cultured Pearl is a little quieter. If the weather is nice, people will also be outside on the patio upstairs. The party in the tent is a little louder with people dancing. Both sections have all of the same food and drink. It keeps coming. Kids 12 and under are free. Extra tickets for the party are $30 in advance and $40.00 starting November 15th. There will be a limit of 400 sold this year, so there will not be any available at packet pick up or race day. If there are any available at packet pick up, they will be $50.00. There will probably be none available. Purchase in advance!
Q: Is the race a Boston qualifier?
A: Yes. It is a certified Boston qualifier.

Q: Is there a bag check?
A:  There is an unofficial bag check. There are numbered tubs at the start. They will be brought to the finish. They are not secure. Do not put valuables in them. 
Q: What drinks are served on the course?
A: Water and Gatorade (every 2 miles)

Q: How can I buy an extra wristband for the after party?
A: You can purchase them with your registration at active.com.
Q: What is the half marathon course?
A: The half marathon will start at the bandstand, just like the full marathon. It heads down Rehoboth Avenue to 4th street and winds back to Surf. It heads out to Grodon’s pond, loops the parking lot, and turns around. It picks up Columbia out to Rehoboth Avenue, and turns right at the light on Church st. It follows the Junction-Breakwater traail and turns around at the first turnaround in Hawkseye. It heads back to The Circle, takes Columbia to 4th and finished behind Rehoboth Beach Running Co at 301 Rehoboth Avenue. See map on home page.
Q: When will we pick up our timing chips?
A: Timing chips are on the back of the race numbers. You will get them at packet pick up.
Q: How much does the after party cost?
A:  All racers will receive a wrist band with their packet. You must be wearing the wristband to enter the after party. (No exceptions) You can purchase extra wristbands for your friends and family with registration. Advance wristbands are $30.00. After 11/15 $40.00. Wristbands purchased at packet pick up or race day are $50.00. Kids under 12 are free. There will be a limit of 400 wristbands sold. Once they have been sold out, you cannot buy them. Last year we sold out before race day. There were none available at packet pick up or race day.
Q: Can I defer my entry until next year?
A:  No.
Q: Are there bathrooms on the course?
A: There will be Port-o-Potties about every 2 miles. At the start, there are public bathrooms (Rehoboth Avenue) and Port-o-Potties from Clean Delaware.
Q: Is there a time limit for the marathon?
A: Yes. 7 hours. The Half marathon has the same limit.
Q: What are the closest airports?
A: Philadelphia and Baltimore are both about a 2 hour drive from Rehoboth.
Salisbury, Maryland is about an hour away, but has limited flights.
Q: Will there be gels on the course?
A: GU brand gels on course. Vanilla and Triberry gels. Water stops at the entrance to the state park (full marathon course miles 9 and 12) and Grove Park (full marathon mile 19 & half marathon mile 5). Why aren’t there more stops with gels? Mary Beth doesn’t want wrappers near the trail. People drop them, there anyway, but we want to limit that as much as possible. 
Q: Where should I park?
A: There is plenty of free street parking close to the start of the race. I would park on Rehoboth Avenue. I would park halfway between the start and the finish. The start and the finish are a half mile apart.
Q: Will there be finisher medals?
A: Yes. All finishers will receive a medal.
Q: Is the course flat?
A: The course is mostly flat with some small hills in Cape Henlopen State Park.
Q: Can I switch races in the middle of the race?
A:  No. You will not receive a finishing time, if you change races in the middle you will be listed as DNF.
Q: Is there any space left in the race?
A:  Yes.
Q: What is the normal temperature?
A: Usually the temperature is in the mid 40’s at this time of year.
Q: Will there be mile markers?
A: There will be mile markers at every mile.
Q: What day of the week is the race?
A: Saturday.
Q: What are the best spectator spots
A: Grove Park (Rehoboth) Mile 19 and 26 on the full, mile 5 and 13 on the half)

Q: Will there be a relay this year?
A: No relay this year.
Q: Can I run outside of the cones and outside of the marked course?
A:  No. You must stay within the marked, coned off areas. You must follow the directions of Police, race directors, and emergency personnel. If you do not, you are subject to being disqualified from the race.
